Georgie Oldfield
Georgie Oldfield MCSP is a physiotherapist, educator and author and a UK Specialist in a pioneering approach to chronic pain. The approach is based on the foundational work of pioneer John E Sarno MD, which is educational, focuses on self-empowerment and is now evidence-based. Unresolved emotions from stress and past trauma, as well as factors such as beliefs, learned behaviours, lifestyle and personality traits have now been shown to play a role in the learned neural circuits involved, persisting. This is why the emphasis is on identifying and addressing the underlying causes behind why pain is persisting, rather than just addressing the pain itself. In 2010 Georgie set up the training organisation, SIRPA, which launched the first teaching programme in this field, enabling health & wellness professionals to learn how to integrate this approach within their own work. Georgie published her book, ‘Chronic Pain: Your Key to Recovery’ in 2014, gave a TEDx talk in 2019 and since 2015 has organised and hosted 4 international conferences, held in London.
